This commodity used mostly in the toothpaste and tobacco industries. Refined glycerine supplies are at present wholly derived imports. Average Bangkok consumers' price during the period 1963-1967 amounted to approximately 13,000 baht per tonne of refined glycerine (11,000 baht per tonne c.i.f. Bangkok, 2,000 baht per tonne import duty).สาระสังเขป: (2) All 80 per cent crude glycerine produced in Thailand as a by-product to soap manufacture is exported.++ In 1967 these exports amounted to 370 tonnes. An increase in the crude glycerine production to 500 tonnes by 1969 and to 600 tonnes by 1970 is anticipated. During the period 1963-1967 the average export value of crude glycerine was 6,000 baht per tonne f.o.b. Bangkok.สาระสังเขป: (3) Based on the expected supply of crude glycerine and demand for refined glycerine, a project is proposed for the local refining of crude glycerine to U.S.P. and /or B. P. grade glycerine. Ultimate capacity will amount to 500 tonnes of refined glycerine per year.สาระสังเขป: (4)The project capital costs are estimated at 4,500,000 baht. The main part of this capital, 3,100,000 baht, is required for fixed investments in land, buildings, machinery, and equipment. The remaining amount of 1,400,000 baht is required as working capital.สาระสังเขป: (5) The variable production costs of refined glycerine are estimated at 9,200 baht per tonne. With a straight-line depreciation in six years, the cost of depreciation amounts to 442,000 baht per year.สาระสังเขป: (6)Assuming that the production and sales targets of 70, 85, and 100 percent of the full production capacity are achieved during the first, second, and following four years of operation respectively, it has been calculated that the net cash income (before taxes) generated from operations during the first three years would approximately recover the total project cost. The capital for the fixed investments would be recovered within two and a quarter years of operations.สาระสังเขป: (7)At termination of the project after six years of operations, the cumulative cash income of the project would amount to 11,000,000 baht. This means a net profit (before taxes) of 6,500,000 baht on the original investment of 4,500,000 baht.สาระสังเขป: (8) Remark: The supply of crude glycerine as well as the market for refined glycerine is dominated by a small number of companies. To avoid difficulties in supplying of raw materials and in marketing the product, it is strongly recommended that those who contemplate a local glycerine refining project should avail themselves of reliable agreements with the major crude glycerine producers and the most important consumers of refined glycerine. - Author.สาระสังเขป: A selling price of 12,500 baht per tonne of locally refined glycerine has been assumed.สาระสังเขป: For the feasibility study of this project it has been assumed that the whole capital is financed by a 100 per cent equity investment.
