Trial electrodes made with G.S. Steel core wires by Thai Kobe Welding Co. Ltd. and by Bangkok Welding Co. Ltd. were evaluated in accordance with the Thai Industrial Standard Specification TIS 49-2516. It has been found that the steel core wire, the weld-metal, and the weld-joint prepared in mild steel plate all possess chemical and mechanical properties conforming to the Thai Industrial Standard Specification for mild steel covered arc welding electrodes. Welding characteristics are also the same as those of commercial electrodes currently made in the country with imported core wirse Authors.
