The pulp was bleached to 77% brightness by DE/E/D sequence with 9% equivalent chlorine. The bleached yield was 84 per cent on ovendry pulp.สาระสังเขป: Air dry Thai kenaf gave about 48% pulp by cooking with 21% caustic soda at liquor ratio 3.5:1 for 2 hours at 170 degree celsius. The pulp was bleached with 10% equivalent chlorine by DE/EH/D sequence to brightness 75%. The bleached yield attained 91 per cent on ovendry pulp.สาระสังเขป: Both fresh and air dry cuban kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus) and Thai kenaf (Hibiscus sabdariffa) were pulped by soda process. Fresh kenaf gave 48% pulp by cooking with 21% caustic soda at liquor ratio ^:1 for 2 hours at 170 degree celsius. The pulp was bleached to 76% brightness with 8% equivalent chlorine in DE/E/D sequence. The blenached yield was 85 per cent on ovendry pulp.สาระสังเขป: The soda pulp is distinguished for its high tearing strength and geed quality comparable to that obtained by kraft process except for breaking strength, and slightly higher bleach demand. The two-stage soda process can be an slternate for kraft process for both fresh and air dry kenaf. - Authors.สาระสังเขป: Two-stage cooking with washing between the stages appeared to improve bleachability with similar yields and quality. The soda pulp has lighter unbleached colour than kraft pulp.
