During the period of 1976-1977, the mint plant was grown in 11 villages in the north-eastern and southern regions of Thailand under the advice of ASRCT's staff. The results were not as successful as expected. This was due of various reason viz. 1) farmers do not have experience in mint cultivation which makes the extension activity more difficult, 2) unexpected drought during the growing season as well as the lack of irrigation facility, 3) sinc communication is not convenience, it was very difficult for the ASRCT's staff to keep in touch with the farmers.สาระสังเขป: It was suggested that extension activity should be continued until the farmers are acquainted with mint cultivation and it is hoped that drought will not happen again, or irrigation facility be installed in these villages in case of occasional drought. Authorsสาระสังเขป: จากอุปสรรค์ดังกล่าวข้างต้น เห็นสมควรจะขยายเวลาการส่งเสริมออกไปเพื่อให้กสิกรคุ้นเคยต่อการปลูกมินต์, และคาดว่าภาวะแห้งแล้งคงจะไม่เกิดขึ้นอีก, และได้ทำการช่วยเหลือทำเครื่องสูบน้ำให้หมู่บ้าน. - ผู้แต่ง.สาระสังเขป: สถาบันวิจัยวิทยาศาสตร์ประยุกต์แห่งประเทศไทย (สวป.) ได้ร่วมมือกับสภาสังคมสงเคราะห์แห่งประเทศไทย ในการพัฒนาอาชีพในหมู่บ้านพัฒนาของสภาสังคมสงเคราะห์, โดยการส่งเสริมการปลูกและสกัดน้ำมันมินต์ในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือและภาคใต้รวม 11 หมู่บ้าน ในปี พ.ศ. 2519 - 2520. ผลของการส่งเสริมพอจะสรุปได้ว่า ไม่ประสบผลสำเร็จเท่าที่คาดไว้, ทั้งนี้เนื่องจากสาเหตุหลายประการ คือ 1) มินต์เป็นพืชใหม่ กสิกรไม่มีประสบการณ์ในการปลูกและบำรุงรักษา ซึ่งเป็นอุปสรรคต่อการส่งเสริม, 2) ความแห้งแล้งและไม่มีการชลประทาน, 3) การคมนาคมไม่สะดวก ทำให้การติดต่อระหว่างเจ้าหน้าที่ของ สวป. กับกสิกรเป็นไปอย่างลำบาก.
