At present there are 12 rubber dams in Thailand. The cost of these rubber dams was quite high, since eight of them were imported from Japan. Four of the dams were locally made by a private company with a transferred technology from a company in China. As an agricultural based country, Thailand needs more dams and weirs. However, if the cost of rubber dams is not so high, more rubber dams would be constructed.สาระสังเขป: Rubber dam or rubber weir is a sealed rubber tube which is anchored to a concrete foundation by a rail-bolt assembly and installed across a watercourse. The tube can be inflated with air or water by using a compressor or pump and deflated when air or water is drawn out. Basically, the tube is composed of many layers of coated fabric which are made from nylon cloth for material strength and synthetic rubber for water tightness.สาระสังเขป: This report informs the status and location of these dams in Thailand including the responsible organization. The general structure of rubber dam, production technology and rubber property testings of the tube including maintenance and its repair are also reviewed.
