The smaller sizes used would result in higher brightness. Talcum was passed through magnetic separator for iron oxide removal and only 1 percent could be removed. Due to high percentage of iron oxide (>5-12 percent) and its occurrence in non-magnetic form, bleaching was also needed. Beneficiated talcum complying to the standard from this project can be used in ceramics and fertilizer industries. Authorsสาระสังเขป: Talcum of Uttaradit province was crushed and cut as to selected sizes for flotation and bleaching. In the laboratory, talcum brightness was improved from 57 percent to 73 percent by flotation and to 76 percent by bleaching respectively. Iron oxide was removed from 7.6 percent to 6.06 percent and 4.38 percent. In the pilot plant using flotation machine of the plant to compare with that of the project, similar brightness of talcum of about 70 percent was obtained. Talcum from both processes were then mixed together for further bleaching and the brightness was improved up to 76.8 percent. The decrease in brightness might occur from using river water in the process.สาระสังเขป: โครงการนี้ได้ทดลองนำทัลคัมของเหมืองแร่ในจังหวัดอุตรดิตถ์ ที่โรงงานผลิตขายในปัจจุบันมาบดคัดขนาดแล้วนำมาผ่านกระบวนการลอยแร่และการฟอกสีในห้องปฏิบัติการ สามารถเพิ่มค่าความขาวสว่างจากประมาณร้อยละ 57 เป็นร้อยละ 73 และ 76 ตามลำดับ จำกัดปริมาณเหล็กโดยวิธีฟอกสีลดลงจากร้อยละ 7.6 เป็นร้อยละ 6.06 และ 4.38 ตามลำดับ และนำไปทดลองระดับโรงงานต้นแบบ โดยใช้เครื่องลอยแร่ของโรงงานและของโครงการ เปรียบเทียบทัลคัมที่ผลิตได้ พบว่า ค่าความขาวสว่างมีค่าใกล้เคียงกันเท่ากับร้อยละ 70 จึงได้นำทัลคัมที่ผ่านกระบวนการลอยแร่ผสมกัน จากนั้นนำไปทำการฟอกสี สามารถเพิ่มค่าความขาวสว่างเป็นร้อยละ 76.8% โดยค่าขาวสว่างที่ลดลง อาจเนื่องมาจากน้ำที่ใช้ในกระบวนการของโรงงานเป็นน้ำจากแม่น้ำซึ่งมีสารแขวนลอยเจือปน.สาระสังเขป: นอกจากนั้นพบว่าขนาดอนุภาคของทัลคัมมีผลต่อค่าความขาวสว่างในกระบวนการลอยแร่ ขนาดอนุภาคยิ่งเล็กจะได้ค่าความขาวสว่างสูง ได้ทำการแยกสารแม่เหล็กในทัลคัม โดยผ่านเครื่องแยกแม่เหล็กสามารถกำจัดเหล็กได้ร้อยละ 1 เท่านั้น เนื่องจากปริมาณเหล็กในทัลคัมของจังหวัดอุตรดิตถ์มีค่าสูงถึงร้อยละ 5-12 และบางส่วนอยู่ในรูป mon-magnetic form จึงต้องใช้วิธีการฟอกสีช่วย จากการทดลองวิจัยสามารถแต่งแร่ และปรับปรุงทัลคัมให้มีคุณสมบัติได้มาตรฐานที่สามารถนำไปใช้กับอุตสาหกรรมเซรามิกและอุตสาหกรรมปุ๋ย. -ผู้แต่ง.
