There is a slight increase of defoliation in February, due apparently to increases in wind speed. The total amount of fallen leaves is 35-45 percent at the end of December and 80-90 percent by the end of January; the defoliation is finally terminated in March-April. The defoliation of rang is similar to teng, with a tendency towards a higher rate. Rang starts to defoliate in the middle of October. Defoliation reaches a peak in the middle of December, after which it gradually decrease. Like teng, there is also a slight increase of defoliation in February due to the same factor-increases in wind speed. The total leaf fall of rang is 75-85 percent at the end of December and more than 95 percent by the end of January; the defoliation is complete in February-March S.Kสาระสังเขป: Three medium-sized trees of each species were selected and caged in different locations, each tree being wholly covered with strong fish netting to prevent mixing of leaves from other trees. Fallen leaves were counted and weighed every week from 5 November 1968 to the end of March 1969.
