It is used in Thai traditional medians for hemorrhoid treatment. In this study the whole plant of Ethanolic extract has been investigate for Pharmacological which ware studied on the expression of inflammation associated genes in monocytic THP-I cells as well as the mechanism. The safety evaluation, Oral acute toxicity and Chromic toxicity includy the quality control of flavonoid compound; quercetin is investigated. The results from the ethanolic extract, obtained confirmed that the traditional use of Cissus quadrangularis for the treatment of hemorrhoid which could be reducing the size and no toxic sign. The enteric film coated tablets were perform for the clinical trial. สาระสังเขป: เพชรสังฆาต (Cissus quadrangularis L.) วงศ์ Vitaceae เป็นพืชสมุนไพรที่พบทั่วไป ทั้งในทวีปเอเชีย ภูมิปัญญาไทยรับประทานเถาสดเพื่อรักษาโรคริดสีดวงทวาร ในการทดลองนี้ นำสารสกัดเอทานอลของเถาเพชรสังฆาตมาทดสอบฤทธิ์ทางด้านเภสัชวิทยาและกลไกการทำงานของสารสกัดเพชรสังฆาต พบว่าสารสกัดเพชรสังฆาตมีฤทธิ์ลดการอักเสบและทำให้หลอดเลือดดำของหนูหดตัวได้. ได้ประเมินความปลอดภัยโดยการทดสอบความเป็นพิษเฉียบพลันทางปากและความเป็นพิษกึ่งเรื้อรังของสารสกัดเพชรสังฆาต พบว่ามีความปลอดภัยต่อสัตว์ทดลอง ควบคุมคุณภาพสารสกัดเพชรสังฆาตโดยวิเคราะห์สารประกอบฟลาโวนอยด์ เคอร์ซิตินได้ผลิตผลิตภัณฑ์ยาเม็ดเคลือบฟิล์มจากสารสกัดเพชรสังฆาตเพื่อทดสอบทางคลินิกต่อไป.
