The average of the knot efficiency of the 4 grades of kenaf was 53.0 percent and that of the 4 grades of Pakistan jute was 51.5 percent. The average of the variation was 8.3 percent for kenaf and 8.7 percent for Pakistan jute. Application of null hypothesis showed there was a "highly significant" difference between the knot efficiencies for Khon Kaen kenaf and Pakistan jute, the difference, however, being less than 7 percent. Knot efficiency tests so far conducted indicate that Pakistan jute is less brittle than Khon Kaen kenaf. S.K.
