In the process, an anaerobic lagoon is employed to primarily reduce the BOD. Further BOD reduction is accomplished in a pasveer oxidation ditch. The effluent is finally polished in an oxidation pond before discharging into receiving water. The construction cost and operating cost of the treatment plant were estimated at 228,000 baht and 57 baht/day, respectively.สาระสังเขป: At present the factory has no proper system of waste treatment and disposal. The wastewater is produced in continuous and intermittent washing operations. It is a strong waste having BOD of over 2000 mg/1. The volume of the wastewater is about 25 m3/day at present, and will increase to 50 m3/day in the near future. The quantity of organic pollutants in the wastewater is equivalent to those generated by about 2240 people. Due to a very low dilution capacity of the receiving water, a high quality effluent is required.สาระสังเขป: This study aims at deriving the most spproriate solutions to the problems of water and wastewater treatment at Thai President Foods Co. Ltd. Due to very high total solids contents of cover 1000 p.p.m. the existing sodium zeolite exchanger cannot boiler feed water of acceptable quality. As a results, the boiler water has to be blown down at frequent intervals thus causing excessive fuel consumption and reduction in steam output.สาระสังเขป: To reduce the blowdown frequency the water will have to be deionized. For a blowdown period of 16 hours the total solids of the boiler feed water will have to be reduced to approximately 180 p.p.m. This can be achieved using a strong acid exchanger and a weak base exchanger. The treatment plant having a capacity of 20 ms/day and 32 hours cycle time would cost about 195,300 baht in construction and 8,475 baht/m3 in operation. The plant engineer should determine the most economical capacity of the treatment plant balancing the treatment cost against saving in fuel.
