They were significantly higher than Para grass which yielded only 8,457.5 kg/rai.สาระสังเขป: At Thap Sakae Experiment, total herbage yields harvested from 4 cuttings within 15 months of Guinea, Signal, and Para grass were 6,243.5, 4,691.0 and 5,197.25 kg/rai, respectively, while Centro yielded 626.0, 737.75 amd 656.0 kg/rai when grown with the respective grasses. The yields of grasses were not statistically different.สาระสังเขป: Besides the establishment of four demonstration plots in 1975, additional studies on (a) fertilizer trial of Guinea grass, and (b) propagation techniques of the three grasses were also being undertaken. Authors.สาระสังเขป: Coconut leaf analyses were undertaken both prior to the commence of experiment and during the course of experiment for determination of soil nutrition problem. It was found out that all forage species planted plots, concentration of plant nutrition in the plots fertilized with 20-14-14 fertilizer at 50 kg/rai in the first year and 15-15-10 at 75 kg/rai in the second year, did not differ from the control plots which were not fertilized. The analyses also showed no difference between the result obtained prior to the start of experiment and those obtained during the experiment.สาระสังเขป: Four forage species, namely Guinea grass (Panicum maximum), Signal grass (Brachiaria brizantha), Para grass (Brachiaria mutica) and Centro (Centrosema pubesoens) were grown in replicates under coconuts in southern Thailand. Three experimental plots were established at Amphoe Thap Sakae in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province; Amphoe Pathiu in Chumphon Province and at Sawi Agricultural Experiment Station (Amphoe Sawi) in Chumphon Province. Centro was grown as companion crop for all of the three grasses at all locations except Pathiu. During the growth period, May 1973 to May 1975, fresh herbage yield (80 per cent moisture content), nitritive composition and nutritive influence as responded by coconut were studied.สาระสังเขป: The analysis for nutritive compositions of grass species showed little difference in protein, fat and carbohydrate contents. Legume increased protein content of the mixed pasture of every grass species.สาระสังเขป: The experiment at Sawi Agricultural Experiment Station produced, from 9 cuttings made during 23-month period of growth, total herbage yields of Guinea, Signal and Para grass of 9,975.25, 8,289.25 and 6,149.00 kg/rai, respectively. Centro in each plot of respective grass yielded 1,500.75, 1,568.25 and 1,541.50 kg/rai.
