Food packaging is one of the biggest problems for elderly people. Furthermore, there is the limitation of research on packaging design for the use of elderly people which they can require to open the packages easily. This study aimed to design the food packaging for elderly people. It would be a guideline for the designers or food manufacturers to be aware of the packaging for the elderly people that help them to handle food packages by themselves. The data collection was conducted on the force used to open the package of the elderly, such as torsion. It was found that the elderly aged between 60 to 99 years had a different torsion strength. However, it was found that the torsion lower 0.29 Newton-meter was suitable to develop packaging for elderly aged between 60 to 99 years old. In addition, three easy-open packaging for tablet formulations with seniors-friendly graphics were also designed to serve as a prototype for packaging supplementary food for the elderly.
