Worldwide Muslim populations exceed 1.6 billion people, which is approximately one-fourth of the world's total population. The Muslim population in the ASEAN region exceeds 240 million people, is a large tourism market with growing potential. Muslims in Thailand, in particular, has its local tourism tendency to be increased continuously due to convenience transportation and support from the tourism authority. The objective of the research project entitled "Development of search-based software (SBS) on smart phone for searching Halal certified SMEs and restaurants" is to provide a SBS tool, i.e. to be installed as an application in smart phone, for Muslim tourists to find the access to Halal certified restaurants and SMEs in Thailand. The SBS, in particular, is designed as a user friendly application and available for free downloading at play store.
