An extraction plant with the capacity of 45 tons seed per day with a total investment of 50, 701, 900 baht had high potential to establish when the selling price of crude oil was at 19,000 baht per ton. It was not feasible when the price was lower than 19,000 baht per ton. A refining plant with the capacity of 40 tons RBD oil per day with a total investment of 84,196,000 baht was not feasible to invest.สาระสังเขป: Three hundred and forty-three tons of sunflower seeds cultivated in the country was processed by solvent extraction at the Kamol Kit plant, with the capacity of 45 tons of seeds per day. The extraction yielded 37.20 percent of crude oil and 61.00 percent of meal. The residue oil left in the meal was 1.77 percent and its protein and fibre contents were 27.80 percent and 27.42 percent respectively. The quality of the meal produced was lower than that of meal sold in the U.S. due to undehulling of seeds. Crude oil containing 1.65 percent of free fatty acid and 0.23 percent of wax was refined by chemical refining at the Rural Agro-industry plant with the capacity of 40 tons of RBD oil per day. The refining of oil gave 87.99 percent of RBD oil, 4.01 percent of high acid, 0.87 percent of wax and 0.66 percent of fatty acid distillate. The chemical and physical properties of the oil containing 89.38 percent of unsaturated fatty acid complied with the standard for edible oils and fats.สาระสังเขป: To promote the investment, it would be necessary to develop the cost of the seed production and to upgrade the meal.
