The purpose of this study was to survey and classify germplasm collection and conservation of the native Thai Magnoliaceae. There were 23 species in the list of Thai Magnoliaceae of which four were new record to Thailand, one - Magnolia sirindhorniae Noot. & Chalermglin was a new species and 10 were classified as rare and endangered species. In this project, 14 seedlings of Magnolia sirindhorniae were grown ex situ all over Thailand. There were six species of non germinated seeds. Data of this project would be useful for future taxonomical study and conservation of Thai Magnoliaceae. - Authors.สาระสังเขป: โครงการอนุรักษ์และพัฒนาพันธุกรรมพืชในวงศ์ไม้จำปาได้ดำเนินการตั้งแต่เดือนตุลาคม 2539 ถึงกันยายน 2544 โดยการออกสำรวจเก็บตัวอย่างแห้ง, ตัวอย่างดองสดของดอกและผลจากพื้นที่อุทยานแห่งชาติ เขตรักษาพันธุ์สัตว์ป่าและวนอุทยานจากทั่วประเทศ. ทำการจำแนกพรรณไม้ในวงศ์นี้ได้รวม 3 สกุล จำนวน 23 ชนิด พบว่ามี 1 ชนิดที่เป็นพรรณไม้ชนิดใหม่ของโลก (new species) คือ จำปีสิรินธร Magnolia sirindhorniae Noot. & Chalermglin, และพบ 4 ชนิดที่ยังไม่มีรายงานการพบในประเทศไทยมาก่อน (new record) คือ มณฑิรา Manglietia insignis (Wall.) Blume, จำปีเพชร Magnolia mediocris (Dandy) Figlar, จำปีดอย Magnolia gustavii King และ จำปีหนู Magnolia compressa Maxim. ได้พบว่ามีพรรณไม้ในวงศ์นี้ 10 ชนิดเป็นพรรณไม้ที่หายากและใกล้จะสูญพันธุ์, และมีอีก 6 ชนิดที่ไม่สามารถเพาะกล้าจากเมล็ดได้. มีการเก็บเมล็ดของจำปีสิรินธรและเพาะเป็นต้นกล้าสำหรับปลูกเพื่ออนุรักษ์พันธุกรรมนอกถิ่นกำเนิดได้จำนวน 14 ต้น. จำนวนชนิดของพรรณไม้ในวงศ์จำปาที่จำแนกได้ในโครงการนี้ จะเป็นข้อมูลสำหรับการศึกษาด้านอนุกรมวิธาน, การอนุรักษ์และใช้ประโยชน์อย่างยั่งยืนของพืชวงศ์จำปาในประเทศไทยต่อไป. - ผู้แต่ง.
