Thailand during October 2000-September 2001. The objective of the projects was to study the effect of F1 hybrid of each pair of parent tomatoes in order to find those that can resist bacterial wilt, has long shelf life and uniformity of size, shape and appearance. The three varieties of parent tomatoes consist of one variety of F1 hybrid CV. Master No.2 and two varieties of line selection CV. Mr. Shue and CV. AVRDC tropical line No.2 CLN1466D. Pollen of each variety was combined at Doi Pui Research Station to obtain a combination of food characteristics of each parent tomato. The result showed that the F1 hybrid of table tomatoes of CV. Master No.2 and CV. Mr.Shue or CV. AVRDC tropical line No. CLN1466D was in the form of the indeterminate type. The size, shape and appearance of this F1 hybrij were varied and, therefore, not suitable to use as a parent for further propagation. However, it might be suitable to use in pure selection by combining with other varieties for genetic improvement and base diversity. The F1 hybrid from CV. Mr.Shue and AVRDC tropical line No. CLN1466D parents also showed the grown characteristic in the form of indeterminate type: and the size shape and appearance of fruit from this F1 hybrid were uniform with medium size and long shelf life. The F1 hybrid was suitable to use as a parent for seed production and from any combination showed a characteristic of bacterial wilt resistance.
