It is assumed that the mill is situated in Khon Kaen, has a production capacity of 100 tonnes per 24 hours, works 330 days in a year, and produces air-dry bleached chemical pulp from whole kenaf stalks by neutral sulphite process; and that the paper mills purchasing the pulp are situated in Bangkok. The cost at mill site of the furnish (80 percent imported pulp + 20 percent waste paper) presently used by paper mills is estimated at 4,700 baht per tonne. This is taken as the price of the kenaf pulp to be sold to the paper mills; and, allowing 20 percent profit for the pulp mill, the delivered cost of kenaf pulp is calculated to be 3,790 baht per tonne. Deducting pulp delivery cost, depreciation, processing cost, interest on borrowed capital, and storage cost of kenaf stalks from the kenaf pulp delivered cost, the maximum price payable at pulp mill site for one toone of dry kenaf stalks is calculated to be 580 baht, and the maximum price payable at a collecting centre of the pulp mill is 504 baht per tonne.
