The demonstration plots consist of four netted glasshouses of a dimension of 10 x 30 x 2.5 m each, and an open-air plot of an area of 4 raiสาระสังเขป: A training course was organized for 50 participants who are vegetable growers or group of farmers in Pak Chong District, having planting sites principally in variable cultivated areas or in the upstream area of Lam Takhong Dam Project. The lecture provided the participants with vegetable production and marketing techniques; the importance of manure, compost, biocontrol agents and plant extracts; and a safe use of chemicals. At the conclusion of the training, the participants would have learnt, in practical session, a method in producing compost, the bio-organic approach in biological extraction, and the making of pesticides from herbs and other native plants. Arrangement has also been made for a visit to the demonstration plots at Lam Takhong Research Station in Nong Sarai Subdistrict, Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province Authorsสาระสังเขป: Vegetables that are popularly produced and consumed, such as kale and Chinese crucifer, had been grown in both types of demonstration plots, and their productivity was compared. Vegetables which are generally less affected by insects and diseases had been planted in the open-air plot, as examples of selected vegetables that require less or no chemical fertilizer. These are lettuce, Chinese crucifer, lemongrass, kitchen mint and turkey berry.
