The estimated cost is found to be much higher than the two previous estimates, an increase of almost 200 and 300 per cent respectively. The expected selling price of lightweight clay aggregate with a minimum profit margin is more than twice as much as the price of its close substitute-natural gravel. Besides the unattractive rate of return on investment, marketability of lightweight clay aggregate also appears to be very doubtful. An intensive engineering and economic study on the benefits over cost in the application of lightweight clay aggregate as a component in building construction is highly recommended. The results will be useful in determining whether the commercial manufacutre of lightweight clay aggregate in Thailand is economically feasible under the present conditions Authors
