They were then examined for mould growth and tested for tensile strength. At 75 percent relative humidity there was no development of mould or loss of strength. Fibre at 87 percent relative humidity developed mould, but there was no significant loss of strength. At 94 and 100 percent relative humidity mould growth was severe and the loss of strength was significant after 2 weeks. Regain moisture contents corresponding to the above four relative humidities were slightly lower for kenaf than for jute. Authors.
