The mint oil of contains 85.30-85.53 per cent of free menthol 88.00-88.20 per cent of total menthol, 2.67-2.70 per cent of menthyl acetate, and 5.12-5.32 per cent of menthone. The oil of Indian species is composed of 72.23-76.79 per cent of free menthol, 84.12-85.89 per cent of total menthol, 9.10-11.89 per cent of menthyl acetate, and 6.09-7.37 per cent of menthone. In the Taiwan red species oil, there are only 57.55-58.95 per cent of free menthol, 70.27-79.45 per cent of total menthol, 11.32-21.90 per cent of menthyl acetate, and 10.52-19.26 per cent of menthone.
