It was found that there were altogether 30 varieties, among them were 11 species of Japanese mints, which included: 1, Red Taiwan, white Taiwan, Taiwan 1, mentha-ointment mint, "Peesadej" "Ban Paew", Japanese Red, Chinese Red, Peking, and Brazil while the remaining 19 species were: M. spicata var. crispa, M. viridis (Colorado peppermint), M. pulegium (pennyroyal), M. piperita (peppermint), Indonesian peppermint, Italian peppermint 1, Italian peppermint 2, colorado peppermint, Indiana peppermint, US spearmint 1, US spearmint 2, Israeli spearmint, Italian spearmint 1, US spearmint 2, Israeli spearmint, Italian spearmint 1, Italian spearmint 2, Colorado spearmint 2, Scotch spearmint from the US, M. arvensis var. javanica, M. arvensis, and M. canadensis.สาระสังเขป: The study was made from the appearance and form of flower (if any), leaf and stalk, to acquire fundamental knowledge for improvement of the species and analysis of chemical substance of the mint oil, and to tackle the problem of naming the plant variations and glossary of mints.สาระสังเขป: Though most of the mint species are distinctly different, there are some species which are similar. This is likely to create a problem as far as trading business is concerned, as the amount of yield and composition of oil of various species are totally different.
