It was demonstrated that: (a) para grass (Brachiaria mutica) cuttings gave higher germination percentage when planted vertacally as compared with those planted horizonatally; (b) the number of nodes, 1-3, did not give significant difference when subject to both planting methods so far as germination percentage was concerned; and (c) treatments of stems as propagating materials, cut 4 days prior to planting, showed that the one kept under shade, which was watered twice daily and that kept exposed in the field, gave equal germination percentage as those kept under shade without watering.
