Extracts from the pericarp do not possess antibacterial action against these test bacteria. The methylene chloride soluble fraction, derived from the methanol extract of Brucea amarissima kernel, has the highest antibacterial activity against Shigella shiga, in vitro, and the smallest LD in albino mice. By TLC of the methylene chloride soluble fraction, several substances could be separated. Further study of the extracts is containuing. Authors
