Further research to develop industrial scale equipment for this steming process is required. To establish the actual value of de-oiled rice bran, preliminary feeding tests are projected in cooperation with allied agencies with special emphasis on the role of rice bran in formulating mixed feed for poultry.สาระสังเขป: Attention has been given to a number of other miscellaneous investigations. Authors, modified.สาระสังเขป: Research activities have also been directed to the recovery and application of the by-product wax. Laboratory-scale experiments have been very promising. The wax produced is being tested by companies with experience in the formulation of wax products.สาระสังเขป: The rice bran oil extraction capacity in Thailand has been expanding quickly. It is anticipated that in 1970 approximately 25 percent of Thailand's rice bran potential of 600,000 tonnes per year could be extracted for edible oil production. However, a number of problems in the utilization of rice bran as raw material will greatly reduce the efficiency and production of this industry if research activities do not lead to a solution of these problems. The main obstacle for the rice bran oil industry is the unreliable supply of the bran due to its scattered, irregular production and to the fact that the bran normally connot be sotred. Another major problem is the marketing of de-oiled bran, the present value of which is significantly lower than that of the bran from the rice mill. A problem of less importance is the recovery and application of the by-products of edible oil manufacture : wax and soap stock.สาระสังเขป: The Technological Research Institute of ASRCT has started a number of research projects to overcome the above obstacles. High priority has been given to the development of a method to stabilize rice bran. Stabilized rice bran can be stored for a reasonable time without deterioration of its oil content. This property would facilitate the collecting and supply of the bran.
