One of them, which makes use of kieselguhr as a purification agent, was clearly superior to the other method, giving a higher yield and a better quality of TSJ obtained. Both methods, however, contain a step of precipitation with ethanol, a procedure which seems to be impractical of large-scale processing. Authors, modifiedสาระสังเขป: Three extraction methods of purifying Tamarind Kernel Powder (TKP), one of which is described in the literature, have been tried. It was found that a single Soxhlet extraction of the fresh TKP with an azeotropic mixture of methanol and chloroform seems to give a TKP of a better or at least a comparable quality to that obtained by the other two methods.
