Green rubberwood chips containing about 30 percent moisture were cooked with liquor ratio 4:1 in a magnesium bisulphate solution at pH 4.0 with a total of 18 percent SO on moisture-free chip weight. The cooking condition was heating to 155 degree celsius in 1.5 hours and cooking at 155 degree celsius for 4 hours. The crude pulp was disc refined and screened. The yield was 52.7 percent. Three stage bleaching, i.e. chlorination, caustic extraction, hypochlorite bleaching, and sulphurous acid washing with a total of 10 percent active chlorine gave a yield of 42.4 percent with brightness 75. Writing paper from the bleached pulp showed acceptable quality. Authors
