From a study on the substitution of fermented soybean for skim-milk, which is found to be expensive, for early weaning pig, it was discovered that both "natto" and "tempeh" were not favoured by the suckling. The difference in food amount as consumed by the animal was probably due to the palatability in the feed. Both "natto" and "tempeh" might have smelled ammonia, so they were not acceptable for the pig. The feed formulae should, therefore, be improved to suit the palatable taste of the animal.
