The mixture was heated in 1 hour at 100-110 degree celsius then cooled down and thinned with xylene. Consequently, high viscouse liquid in dark brown colour was obtained. After mixing with driers, the product became quick drying varnish which is resistant to water and alcohol solution. The varnish is suitable for wood-coating. The previous report on "Preparation of varnish from cashew nut shell liquid on laboratory scale" was used as a guideline for this experiment.สาระสังเขป: น้ำมันดิบจากเปลือกเมล็ดมะม่วงหิมพานต์ (Cashew Nut Shell Liquid, CNSL) สามารถนำมาทำเป็นวาร์นิชได้ โดยผสมกับ Paraformaldehyde และ Diethylenetriamine ในภาชนะปิด แล้วทำให้ร้อนขึ้นถึงอุณหภูมิ 100-110 องศาเซลเซียส เป็นเวลา 1 ชั่วโมง. จากนั้นลดความหนืดด้วย Xylene จะได้ผลิตภัณฑ์เหลวเหนียวมีสีน้ำตาลอ่อน. เมื่อนำมาผสมกับดรายเออร์ (Driors) จะเป็นวาร์นิชซึ่งทนทานต่อน้ำและสารละลายอัลกอฮอล์ เหมาะสมสำหรับเคลือบผิวไม้. การทดลองนี้อาศัยแนวทางจากรายงานการทำวาร์นิชจากน้ำมันดิบจากเปลือกเมล็ดมะม่วงหิมพานต์ ในระดับห้องปฏิบัติการ (สถาปิตานนท์และคณะ 2523).
