The fractions have been tested for heart activity on frog and turtle hearts. The crude extracts shows increased cardiac tonus and rate, while some fractions show either increased tonus or rate. The chemical and physical of fractions resemble those of the wellkhown heart glycosides. No acute toxic manifestations were observed when the crude extract and some fractions were tested on mice.
