Even though these micro-organisms appeared to show biphasic activity also, they were present in much smaller quantities than the other aerobic bacteria.สาระสังเขป: Microbial activity of aerobic flora in retting liquor of green kenaf stems was found to be biphasic, the first peak of activity occurred at the end of 24 hours, and the second peak at the end of the sixth day of retting. The activity at the end of the retting period (9 days) was only slightly more than that at the beginning of the retting. Retting ability of one strain of aerobic bacteria isolated from the retting bark was found to be quite marked; it could ret sterilized fresh kenaf ribbon, fresh kenaf stem, dry kenaf ribbon, and dry kenaf stem equally well. Retting activities of the other aerobic and anerobic microorganisms isolated from retting stems and retting liquor were slight.สาระสังเขป: The ability to ret kenaf of the various microorganisms tested did not correlate well with their ability to cause rot of potato.
