The internal rate of return of the project is 28 per cent and pays back in 5 years. It was found that the planted area had rapidly increased from 68,500 rais in 1977 to 396,594 rais in 1984 and its production was 304,909 tonnes. Moreover, it was expected that the production would increase to 687,765 and 760,379 tonnes in 1987 and 1988 respectively. The rapid growth of production will lead to the excess supply of oil palm because the intake capacity of the existing palm oil factories is only 607,293 tonnes per annum.สาระสังเขป: This affects an individual and a group of farmers directly because it decrease the farm price of the oil palm.
