Tannin was then removed from the solutions. Both crude and tannin-free extracts were concentrated by vacuum evaporation. These were then given to rabbits orally and their blood sugar contents were determined at intervals. The results showed conclusively that neither the crude nor the tannin-free extracts thus prepared contained a useful level of hypoglycemic acitivity. Authors
