Invest. no. 2 ; Rep. no. 14ข้อมูลการพิมพ์: Bangkok : Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research, 1974 หัวเรื่อง: Kenaf | Newsprint | Rice strawสาระสังเขป: A newsprint substitute was produced by mixed pulping of equal parts of Thai kenaf chips (Hibiscus sebdariffa) and shredded rice straw by neutral sulphite process. The mixed raw matorials were cooked at liquer ratio 5:1 and maximum temperature 150 defree celisun for 4 hours. The cooking solution contained 14% sodium sulphite and 3% caustic soda on ovendry raw materials. Cooking yield was 57.5%. Hypochlorite bleaching to 60.8% brightness was obtained with about 5% available chlorine on evendry unbleached pulp. The bleached yield was 89% on unbleached pulp. The pulp was sized and beaten in 3/½ minutes from initial freeness 880 ml C.S.F. to 445 ml C.S.F. The handsheets showed the following strength test:สาระสังเขป: Basis weight 6/m2 49สาระสังเขป: Breaking length, m 4,651สาระสังเขป: Bulk 1.57สาระสังเขป: Burst factor 22สาระสังเขป: Folding endurance 62สาระสังเขป: Tear factor 81.6สาระสังเขป: The opacity and printability of the sheets appear quite good to be acceptable as newsprint substitute and offset paper.
